Mrs. Geraldine Smith Hite, 89, widow of John Harrell Hite, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston. Born and reared in Halifax County, Geraldine was a graduate of Virgilina High School and a homemaker. A member of North Fork Baptist Church, Geraldine loved taking care of others, and working in her flower garden. Funeral services will be 2PM Saturday at North Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Scott Welch officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hite is survived by her brother, Talmadge Smith of Virgilina, numerous nieces and nephews and two devoted caregivers, Barbara Powell and Frances Martin. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 PM Friday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
